Israel‘s democracy is going through its most serious crisis since the establishment of the State in 1948. The very right-wing government is pushing for changes to limit the power of the Supreme Court. Unprecedented nationwide protests and strikes have shown that the red line has been crossed for hundreds of thousands of Israelis. In Israel, as in other parts of the world, the highly complex society is confronted with an increasing tendency to destabilize democratic principles. It is a hopeful sign that so many individuals, non-governmental organizations and many other public and private organizations are joining together to defend human rights.
