Israel's democracy is going through its most serious crisis since the establishment of the State in 1948. The very right-wing government is pushing for changes to limit the power of the Supreme Court. Unprecedented nationwide protests and strikes have shown that the red line has been crossed for hundreds of thousands of Israelis. In Israel, as in other parts of the world, the highly complex society is confronted with an increasing tendency to destabilize democratic principles. It is a hopeful sign that so many individuals, non-governmental organizations and many other public and private organizations are joining together to defend human rights. In this CHE salon Neri Bar-On from Integral Tel Aviv will give us his perspective on the latest developments through the lenses of Spiral Dynamics integral. Neri is co-founder of Integral Israel. He is an electronics engineer with degrees from the Tel Aviv University in economics and philosophy. Neri was trained by Don Beck and Peter Merry and supported visits to Israel and Palestine for Don Beck and Elza Maalouf.
The salon is online via ZOOM and will last approx. 2,5 hours. It will consist of two parts. One block with Neri Bar-On's introduction and Q&A. In the second part we will dialogue in breakout groups on what we can learn from Israel's situation to better understand the developments in our own country. We will close with a common sharing. Neri will join us for the whole session, the language is English.
We hope to meet you!!
Auke van Nimwegen, Hans Ruijs, Lars Lutje Schipholt and Leida Schuringa
