Within the organizational circles of the Center for Human Emergence, we are guided by chaordic design in defining our purpose and principles. Our policy and decision-making processes are supported by Holacracy practices. In addition, over the years, we have found that the use and creation of specific language opens the space for new energy and initiatives to take shape. A typical example is the unconventional names for the roles through which those active within CHE describe our responsibilities.
The Purpose and Principles are described here, the current roles can be found here.
As a governing body, CHE is organized into collaborative, self-organizing teams (circles) with a high degree of autonomy. All circles determine their own definitions of roles and responsibilities, based on what is needed to fulfill the circle’s purpose. As part of the connection to the entire CHE, each circle has representatives who liaise with the other circles to ensure swift, precise, and efficient information sharing and feedback.
As a movement, CHE is jointly created and organized by and through each participant who feels the intrinsic impulse to do so. This takes the form of salons, constellations, projects, and gatherings that you can participate in or initiate in collaboration with CHE.
As a formal organization, CHE is a foundation with three board members. Two of them hold positions within the Alignment Circle.
Organization Chart

- The Alignment Circle is the executive committee of CHE NL, which comprises projects, constellations, and salons.
- The Synnervation Circle includes CHE Synnervate which oversees commercial and customer-related activities. CHE Synnervate supports and guides its customers as they take their natural next step. Synnervate operates in the areas of design, development, education, and research.
In addition, CHE NL has an Advisory Board: the Wisdom Council
“It’s not that we need to form new organizations. It’s simply that we have to open our minds to new ways of thinking. I believe it makes no sense to spend a lot of time attacking the current realities. It is time to create new models that embody the complexity that renders the older systems obsolete. And to the extent that we can do that—and do it quickly—I think we can provide what will be necessary for a major breakthrough for the future.” – Don Beck, founder of CHE International
The CHE is organized according to the basic principles of Holacracy in collaborative, self-organizing teams (circles), which are highly autonomous. All circles are structured according to their own needs, with their own roles and responsibilities. The current roles are described here. In addition, each circle maintains a connection to the whole to ensure smooth and efficient information transfer and feedback.
Holacracy supports us in transparent policy-making and decision-making. Within the organized circles of the CHE, we also apply the basic principles of Chaordic organizational design, which the intent and the guiding principles be given shape.
The CHE as a movement is shaped by every participant who feels an intrinsic impulse to do so, through salons, constellations, projects, and other gatherings that you can take part in and that can be initiated in consultation with you.
The CHE, as a formal organization, is a foundation with three board members, two of whom serve in the Alignment Circle.
