What lessons can we learn from the recent Dutch elections?
Beyond Polarization : an article by Paul Zuiker and Erika Koehler, December 2023
This article examines the mechanisms underlying polarization, using developments in Dutch politics as a case study. To this end, we introduce a psychological framework that has been validated globally and over the long term, using values as its starting point. Values reflect what people truly consider important. This framework not only allows us to explain voting behavior much more effectively, but it also sheds light on how a new kind of leadership can transcend polarization.
