Uncertainty as access to adequate action
In our time there is uncertainty in many areas. You tend to think that uncertainty is weak and should be avoided. But learning to deal with these feelings appears to contribute to a deep sense of well-being. In other words: there is great happiness in learning to walk on legs that you do not have…
Paula van Lammeren considers the concept of uncertainty from the perspective of Being-oriented.
Bringing together elements of psychotherapy and classical spiritual practice creates an integral art of living path. By Being-orientation we literally mean: orienting yourself to Being, the ever-present ground dimension of existence. Everything that exists is a form of Being. When you are aware of this, you become fully present in the Now. The merry-go-round of striving and avoidance, which always points to the future or the past, no longer has its grip on you. It's like stepping out of a narrowing and suddenly standing in an open space. This open space of Being appears to be intrinsically free of all your patterns, feelings and thoughts. You come into contact with inspiration, strength and zest for life.
Your mind's ability to "rest in Being" provides you with a great starting point for fulfilling your life: in relationships, work, and community involvement.
Paula first gives an introduction, in which some exercises are offered to experience for yourself what it means when you no longer fend off uncertainty. Uncertainty can then become the access to your own wisdom and to act appropriately. This is followed by an exchange and discussion about how this topic can be valued more in your own life and in society.
Paula van Lammeren has been a trainer, supervisor and path coach counselor since 2006 and a member of the daily board of the School for Being Orientation. Paula is a clinical psychologist and was a researcher at the Trimbos Institute in Utrecht, specialized in effect research into preventive mental health care. She taught at the University of Utrecht. She is the author of various articles and the books 'Inspired life and work' and 'Discipline of happiness'. She leads the research into the effects of Being Orientation. She is currently a student of Tsoknyi Rinpoche.
