Polarization in the city

In the magazine Burgemeester of July 2022, an article was published by Hans Ruijs, Ellen Steijvers and Leida Schuringa: How can the mayor deal with the divisions in society?

“The growing uncertainty and fear in this confusing time is leading to more division in society. Polarization is growing on social media, but also between people at the kitchen table. Taking a position and (condemning) judgment are rampant. Corona has placed a magnifying glass on this polarization. Do you believe or not in the government's approach to vaccinations? Are you into the conspiracy theory? Do you believe in the medical world? People fight each other with fierceness and harsh words. How do you, as mayor, stand in the midst of this polarizing hurricane and what role can you play in this?”
You can read the entire article on pages 12-14: Mayor.
