Constellation Decolonization

How does the colonial past of the Netherlands affect the current world and our own lives? And how do we deal with its collective drawbacks, such as slavery, colonization, excessive violence? With these questions, the constellation Decolonization permeates the collective past of the Netherlands. We see working with historical crises - just as with personal problems and traumas - as necessary for our further development and for the transition to the next value system.

The constellation started in the spring of 2018 with three people – with roots in the Netherlands, America, Africa and Indonesia – who organized a number of meetings in 2018 and 2019. During these meetings, in varying composition, we mainly examined our own relationship with colonial history. In the course of 2019, it became apparent that there was a need for an in-depth approach with a fixed group of people. This group formed in early 2020 with a commitment to attend six meetings over a year. With this, the constellation expanded to seven people. In the meantime, corona had made its appearance and the meetings became virtual. The investigation intensified and the six meetings eventually became many more. We also read books, articles, watched films and documentaries, listened to podcasts and shared information in a group app. This information will be made available on this website shortly.
