Feedback from IEC Integral European Conference 2016, May 4-8 in Siόfok, Lake Balaton Hungary

Together with 416 participants from more than 30 countries, Anne-Marie Voorhoeve (The Hague Center for Global Governance, Innovation and Emergence and CHE) and Leida Schuringa (Synnervate and CHE), also on behalf of CHE, participated in this special conference. The central question was how to look at Europe in a new way from an embodied integral perspective, with all the different value systems in synchronization. To integrate Spiral Dynamics integrally into the program and to mobilize CHE leaders and spiral wizards to participate, Anne-Marie worked closely with IEC director Bence Ganti. And so Integral and Spiral came closer together.

In this Salon we would like to share what touched and inspired us. We want to tell about the meaning of an integral perspective on the transformation that Europe stands for, about the importance of the systemic and energetic work and how that worked in the (structure of the) conference, about the insights from the large Europe constellation, analyzes from speakers, the Teal movement inspired by Frederic Laloux's book “Reinventing Organizations”, the impact of Jos de Blok and Buurtzorg, experiences from the workshops and community activities, the Mystery Tour.

The book Spiral Dynamics was published 20 years ago – a great occasion for a celebration. At the official opening of IEC, with speeches from the organizers, from Ken Wilber via video and Don on stage, Anne-Marie led a ritual to celebrate the “lineage of Clare Graves, Don Beck & Chris Cowan and the 3rd generation of SDi practitioners " to honor. With music from Ready to Turn?! (an important event for Don 10 years ago) she invited the present CHE leaders from NL, UK, DU, Spain, Middle East, South Africa, Canada, USA to the stage to line up the three generations , and to share what SDi means to them. The presentation of the English version of the www.spiraldynamicsintegral.nl site, the gift presented by Synnervate to Don and the integral community, received loud applause. The Art of Rituals was clearly present in the conference.

SDi was regularly 'on stage' every day with presentations by Don Beck, Said Dawlabani, expert in second tier economics, Elza Maalouf, author of the book Emerge! that provides a sharp analysis of the Middle East, and Leida as a participant in the plenary panel on the refugee crisis. In addition, Leida won an Award with her article: Refugees in The Netherlands, as seen from Spiral Dynamics integral. CHEers performed in all kinds of other parts of the program, and other speakers also referred to SDi. The lenses that SDi and Integral offer us provide meaningful insights. We will share some of them and jointly investigate how this can contribute to a changing world, Europe, the Netherlands.

We are also curious about the importance of Spiral Dynamics integral for Salon participants. How familiar are you with SDi? What good is it, where do you use it? What value does www.spiraldynamicsintegral.nl. What experiences with second tier organizations is there? How do you stand in the world of integral? Do you feel like a member of CHE, of an SDi – integral community? What does that bring? Does such a community contribute to Reininventing Europe and the world in transition?

We look forward to an investigative, unfolding conversation!

You are cordially invited to participate in this salon.
