CHE Salon Silence & Poetry

CHE Salon February 18

Silence & Poetry

by: Gökhan Aksoy, Geesje Stroo and Hans Kunneman

The months of January and February, quiet months…

What does the silence bring us?

Beautiful words and poetry can flow from this.

Come and discover the power of silence during this CHE Salon, not only in yourself but also in the collective. There is an unprecedented potential and so much intelligence in this collective if we put our attention here.

On this evening we go together with district poet Gokhan Aksoy, silence teacher Ghost Stroo and guitarist Hans Kunneman experience what arises when we create poems together from silence. You will also be given the opportunity to recite your own written poem about silence.

The idea for this salon arose in a conversation between Gökhan Aksoy and Geesje Stroo. You don't need to have any writing experience. Hans musically opens our listening. Gökhan and Geesje show the way to deep listening, to words that want to arise in you.

Poet Gökhan Aksoy was born on the Turkish Black Sea. He plays as an actor with ZID theatre but his greatest passion is poetry. He spontaneously incorporates his Turkish essence into it. He owes his fame to the position he received in 2015/16 as the first district poet of Nieuw West in Amsterdam and as a presenter of the West Art festival. He is the founder of the House of Letters. He makes connections between different cultures with his accessible poetry and believes it is important to also give space for young people. He also attaches great importance to the silence from which unknown words and sentences arise, which have a massaging and merging effect between people.

Hans Kunneman
(1955), guitarist and composer has a classical as well as a Jazz background. His fascination is connecting sound with the underlying field of silence. He is a guitar teacher at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, where he also gives stage training. In addition to classical work, he wrote a large number of songs and musicals. In 2009, Hans initiated Stromend Education, a think tank on educational innovation that joined the CHE in 2016 and 2017 as a constellation Education. www.hanskonneman.nl

Ghost Stroo was born in Zeeland and grew up in and around the dunes and the beach. Through her 30 years of experience in teaching as an art and culture teacher and her many travels, she has built up a lot of experience in education and in steering creative processes. Consciousness development has always had her interest from both art and spirituality. After a 7-year Buddhist training of mainly silent retreats, which started at the age of 28 and in which she had deep transformative experiences, she is engaged in (evolutionary) spirituality. For the last 7 years of this she has worked, both in education and beyond, helping to create and develop an intersubjective collective consciousness, which she sees as new potential for our future. Creating silence and space is essential in this.
